One of the aspects of our holidays in Butlin's that we enjoy most is the food. There is a wide range of restaurants to choose from during the week there is something to suit all tastes and ages. We tend to eat in a different restaurant each night and I can honestly say that we've never had a bad meal.
One recent addition to the eateries at the Bognor Regis resort is Scoop, an ice-cream parlour serving real Italian gelato.
We took our research very carefully during the week, and forced ourselves to try a variety of the flavours and dishes available.
Let me tell you; it was really hard work.
During our visits I was able to chat to Chris (the incredibly helpful and friendly manager, a real asset to the Butlin's team) who explained that Scoop is not part of a national chain of ice-cream parlours and that they don't use ice-cream which appears anywhere else. Butlin's has partnered with an Italian expert in making authentic gelato, who has concocted the most tantalising tastes and fantastical flavours; rocher, strawberry cheesecake, creme brulee, tiramisu, coffee, Oreo, cookie dough, rum and raisin, lemon sorbet, sour cherry yoghurt, pistachio, vanilla and dulche leche to name just a few.
The ice-cream parlour in the Bognor resort is decorated in a funky manner with hot pink and white cow splodges on the floors and walls, cow-themed stools and tables, traditional ice-cream carts converted into tables and seating, and many other features. It's no surprise that it's as popular as it is.
We sampled many of the flavours and each one was creamy and packed with flavour, allowing us the most amazing combinations. Additional toppings are available for a small charge of 25p each, one scoop cones or tubs start from £2.40, while hot waffles cost from £3.90. These may be slightly more expensive than the average ice-cream shop, but the quality of the ice-cream is definitely worth it. Scoop is definitely worth a visit during a stay at Butlin's.
You took this review very seriously I can see 😉 We never made it into scoop on our visit but we did manage to have a lot of rain that week but I loved the decor, it looked amazing in there!
