229. What?! (We went to Hendrewennol Fruit Farm today to have a go in their maize maze, partake of their own ice-cream and pick some raspberries. We didn't pick any fruit as we realised that none of us actually like raspberries, despite The Boy really trying hard to prove that he could in order to continue fruit-picking. However, we had a great time in the maize maze and enjoyed our ice-creams on the way around while finding the castles and stamps. I took better photographs, more pretty and idealistic, but I like this one. It's my boy not being the smiley one that everyone is used to, but the one who was disgusted that his ice-cream was gone and he was left with a soggy wafer cone to manage. He makes me laugh.)
230. Clamber (I met the lovely Welsh Mum of 3 Boys and her family at our favourite local National Trust place, Dyffryn Gardens, where the boys had a wonderful time climbing trees, rolling down banks, playing tag, and finding newts in the different garden rooms. On the way back home, we met up with my mum and The Boy's cousins at Barry Island for a fish and chip supper. Pretty much a perfect Summer holiday day!)
231. Practise (A quiet day at home involving play and some workbooks to keep his phonics and Maths skills up ready for a fortnight's time. Nothing fussy, just life.)
232. Longed For (Mum took me shopping for my belated birthday present and I confessed that what I really wanted was the Urban Decay: Naked eyeshadow palette. She was happy to spoil me with it and I may have squealed. Several times.)
233. Quiet Time (Another quiet day, we've been so busy that this week we've really needed to just relax and not rush around so much. Quiet playing in his bedroom in his pyjamas at 1pm. Because he's five and doesn't need to get dressed if he doesn't want to.)
234. Hotelier (While I was pegging the washing out, The Boy decided that he was desperate to make a mini-beast hotel. He found the old wheelbarrow at the bottom of the garden, set to filling it with soil and worms from the defunct vegetable patch, found several broken bits of wood, some old pebbles and rocks and was over the moon to write a sign on a slate from a broken birdfeeder.)
235. Bear Necessities (We went into the Cardiff branch of Build-a-Bear for a review visit. We've never been in there before, and he was over the moon to select a new teddy and chose a monkey as a companion for Oliver. He loved seeing it made and has carried it around all day. Unfortunately he then sobbed hysterically at bedtime, having a bad dream that Cuddles was trying to frighten him. Cuddles has been banished to the living room overnight.)

TheBoyAndMe says
There were far more attractive photos, but that one was just perfect!
Notmyyearoff says
Hehe love the Ice cream pic, my z weirdly doesn't really eat the ice cream but loves the cone. I loooooove that palette. It's so nice. Although I wish I knew how to mix the colours better.
TheBoyAndMe says
I watched a few YouTube tutorials and felt much more qualified to use such a professional bit of make-up kit.
Faded Seaside Mama says
Woohoo for swanky treats for mum! Love the ice cream photo – such a great expression!
TheBoyAndMe says
He follows me in the range of facial expressions he pulls!
Sarah MumofThree World says
Love the photo of the ice cream. That really is a look of disgust! Sorry to hear about the bad dream with the monkey π
TheBoyAndMe says
The monkey seems to have behaved himself ever since, although he's downstairs so anything could be going on!
Elaine Livingstone says
yes the ice-cream one is a great picture, made me laugh as well.
How nice to get for your birthday something you really wanted and will use, what a nice mum you have.
Love the imagination with the bug hotel, and why not stay in pj's if you dont need to get dressed.
TheBoyAndMe says
Children can get away with doing a lot of things we can't, like staying in pyjamas and even playing outside in the garden in them! Lucky things.
Susan says
I love that your mum spoiled you and I love that you squeeled. Also that is one great looking climbing tree
TheBoyAndMe says
It's a very accommodating tree as it suits all abilities; differentiation in tree climbing!
Clare Nicholas says
Lovely pictures. Mine love fruit picking but also don't like the fruit lol.
awesome make up.
our build a bear ted is called cuddles too
TheBoyAndMe says
He is starting to like the taste of blackberries, but I suspect like me that he won't like the texture. Apple and blackberry pie or crumble is horrible!
Karen says
I love the ice cream photo and have a slight envy at the Urban Decay palette!
TheBoyAndMe says
I was naughty and bought myself another Urban Decay palette as well!
life as our little family says
Looks like a great week. We are off this week so I hope to have one lazy day where we can play in our pj's, or should that just be George! I love his attention when writing the name tag. Just putting my post together now #Project365
TheBoyAndMe says
It's been a lazy week but sometimes it's needed.
Jo Laybourn says
Awe, some very funny expressions on the boys face this week! Love the 1st one. He's been concentrating lots this week. We've never been to Build A Bear…..must do that one day!
TheBoyAndMe says
It's a pricey experience, this came in at Β£45 but fortunately was for a review.
TheBoyAndMe says
I love the 'pull' photo, and all the bouncing trampolines. Thanks for linking up to Project 365, there's a new one live now.
Angela Spicer says
We love Build a Bear, and even had 7yo's last birthday party there. I love the first image of the boy looking at his ice cream.
TheBoyAndMe says
The party sounds interesting, is it expensive?
Kirsty Hijacked By Twins says
I love the Boy's face looking at his ice cream, the picture climbing the tree is lovely x
TheBoyAndMe says
The ice cream picture makes me chuckle.
chantelle hazelden says
Tad jealous of the urban decay palette. Love his expression in the first photo, I pull that kind of face often lol x
TheBoyAndMe says
I have wanted it for so long, I'm hugely in love with it.
Susan Mann says
Love the ice cream pic & you got a gift for you. Great week and great pics x
TheBoyAndMe says
Thanks, the ice cream pic is my favourite.
Kara says
He looks most unimpressed that his ice cream has all gone!! I hope naughty Cuddles has been behaving!
TheBoyAndMe says
He has, I can't work out why the anxiety but I guess at 5 they don't need a reason.
Steph @MisplacedBrit says
Haha! Did you catch him yawning whilst doing that homework! Priceless π
The tree looks awesome! & I'm very impressed with the creativity in the garden there! …What's he painting on?
TheBoyAndMe says
No that's his concentrating face, he was mouthing the letter he was writing.
TheBoyAndMe says
Oh and that's a slab of slate which used to be the roof of a bird feeder.
LauraCYMFT says
Build a bear is Miss C's favourite shop! It's good fun for them. It's a great idea to keep up with the school stuff over the holidays as it is such a long break for them. Lovely photos.
TheBoyAndMe says
He wanted to get a daytime outfit too, think he can use his pocket money for that.
welshmumof3boys says
You've certainly had a busy week π It was lovely to spend some time with you both, my lot haven't stopped talking about the boy π
TheBoyAndMe says
He hasn't stopped asking about them, "When are their birthdays? Can we see them again?"
Lauren Jewhurst (@laurenbigeejit) says
That ice cream one really made me chuckle!
TheBoyAndMe says
Thought it was a more fun one to include π
Erica Price says
Love the treeclimbing picture. We had a lovely time at Build a Bear when we went some time ago. Can see that it might be a bit scary at night especially if you had the heart beat thing.
TheBoyAndMe says
I missed the talk about the heartbeat thing but yes, I think it's too much of a live thing now.
Mary @ Over 40 and a Mum to One says
Looks like a busy week, will be interested to hear what residents your bug hotel attracts.
TheBoyAndMe says
We managed to get some woodlice and worms in there, hopefully some more will turn up too.
Kate Fever says
I love the tree climbing picture and The Boys face in picture 1.
TheBoyAndMe says
He's desperate to be able to manage that branch properly but it's still too daunting for him t the moment.
CaroleHeidi says
Arthur has had a couple of PJ days this week too – because why not?!
TheBoyAndMe says
Exactly, they're children so can!
Jenny Paulin says
my two dont like the cornet either!
sounds like a lovely week of play and relaxation – the tree climbing is a great photo and a mini beast hotel is a wonderful idea x
TheBoyAndMe says
It just gets soggy and tastes grim. We usually treat ourselves to a waffle cone but he doesn't manage that either so we just stick with a standard wafer cone for him.
Jaime Oliver says
you really cant beat climbing a tree! i love it π i have never heard of that brand of make up .. i must take a look at it π
TheBoyAndMe says
It's quite a trendy brand of make-up, too trendy for me to be honest!
Kriss MacDonald says
So wonderful how the boy designed, built and signed his own bug hotel! And great capture of his expression in the first picture.
TheBoyAndMe says
He was, and still is, really proud of his bug hotel. Such a simple activity as well.
Fivegoblogging says
Great expression from the boy! And I'm trying to imagine your expression with your belated birthday present π
TheBoyAndMe says
I was *&$%ing unimpressed that she'd not bought me anything, but I got my own back by buying something that I *really* wanted and couldn't afford.
HPMcQ says
ooo ronnie keeps mentioning build a bear, no idea how he has heard of them but is desperate to go. look forward to reading your review π
TheBoyAndMe says
I was never going to take him because I thought it was quite girly, but this review opportunity came so I thought, 'why not?'. He enjoyed it and for a *VERY* special treat or birthday present this it's a good idea.
Gingerbread and Puddles says
Another week of fun in your household! I love the impromptu 'minibeast hotel'. What a brilliant imagination the boy has π
I've done my week of pics, but didn't think I could link up with a private blog?!
TheBoyAndMe says
Ah no, you probably couldn't? Did you try? I shall pop over and have a look now lovely, thank you.
Stacey Guilliatt (Nobody Said It Was Easy) says
Love the ice cream photo – what a face! π And yay for making a mini-beast hotel.
TheBoyAndMe says
This is why I normally get it in a tub for him, but they had no tubs available.
Sue Tyler says
I like the idea of a beastie hotel but not sure I'd want to see the beasties.. Hate creepy crawlies.
TheBoyAndMe says
Ha, I'm leaving it firmly up to him to fill with creatures!
Becky Cowley says
Lovely photos, especially the look of disgust after he'd eaten all the ice cream and the look of concentration whilst he's doing some work. What a naughty Monkey!!! Hope cuddles is being good now so he can be reinstated to the bedroom xx
TheBoyAndMe says
Cuddles still lives downstairs, he's not trusted upstairs yet. I think it might be because he's worried Oliver Monkey might get jealous.
Foz says
Awwww lol that first ice cream picture did make me smile!!!
TheBoyAndMe says
There were far more attractive photos, but the expression on his face made me chuckle.
OneDad3Girls says
Haha I love the Ice cream photo, my girls are the same. They have smiles with the ice cream and then when it's gone they get sad
Sara (@mumturnedmom) says
His expression in that first photo is priceless π Love the concentration as he makes the sign for his bug hotel x
TheBoyAndMe says
That first photo was so much more entertaining than some of the 'perfect' ones I'd taken!
