Days 11 – 17 of Project 365

Days 11-17 of Project 365

11. And his favourite food is roasted fox! (Despite it being absolutely freezing, we just had to get out into the fresh air today and so drove up to the Gruffalo's Child trail in the Forest of Dean.)

5. Here's one I made earlier! (I was cutting out letters for display in the classroom and he decided to make something with the leftovers, I've no idea what though!)

6. Waning Again (Moon photos might be my new 'sleeping child' photos!)

7. Quirky (I picked The Boy up from school and we went to the park for ten minutes. For some reason he'd decided to tuck his tracksuit bottoms into his socks, to stop them moving apparently!)

8. Care Package (I put together a care package for my sister who is starting chemotherapy this weekend, full of things to help her; fleece blanket, hand cream, hard boiled sweets, nice chocolate, etc.)

9. Dressing Up (He will hate me for this one one day, but hey ho! He was pretenting to be an old woman while playing with Nana's scarf.)

10. Big Chef, Little Chef (After a bad reaction to the first round of chemo, we took my sister's children off her hands with mum and they spent the day playing with The Boy before we all went to Harvester for dinner.)

Awe, we love the gruffalo! Thinking of you all during your sisters treatment and wishing her a quick and successful recovery. She is very lucky to have you as a sister. That care package is sure to help make things just a bit better during this difficult time xx

So sorry to hear the first day of chemo for your sister was a bad one, but she's lucky to have a sister like you to help with the kids and give her thoughtful gifts. Here's hoping the next session doesn't hit her so hard.

Thank you, I hope they adjust the dose or mix accordingly. It's hard to hear she's suffering from something supposed to make her better.

Such a wonderful selection of photos, I bet you have some amazing memories of the past 4 years you've been doing this and so many prompts to remind you of your son growing up. Wishing you all the best for your family at the moment and I hope they can get your sisters meds sorted

Even looking back over my last year reminds me of so many things I'd forgotten about. Thank you for the best wishes.

I wanted to take Harry to the Gruffalo trail at Westobrit this weekend but I have just been far too tired. I love that picture of The Boy, it looks like he is reading to the fox! And what a lovely moon shot you got.

Westonbirt is lovely but a lot of walking and uneven ground so you need to make sure you've got plenty of energy and aren't aching.

I wish this one had a carved Gruffalo as well, the whole thing was a bit low key for my liking. I'm sure they could have set more of a challenge for solving problems or completing challenges.

Lovely photo's from the week and I'm sorry to hear about your sister having a rough time with her chemo. I was hoping to take the kids on a gruffalo trail today but family have had other ideas.

Thinking of you – what a thoughtful package. I love your moon pics – may I suggest a cup of tea or stationery if your really stuck?! Love the fox and boy pic – looks like the fox wants to chat πŸ™‚

We did a Gruffalo's Child Trail too this week! We went to Haughmond Hill near Shrewsbury and the kids LOVED it. The Boy looks like he is concentrating very hard on something.

Love the dressing up photo too – he is so cute πŸ™‚

Thinking of you and your family at the moment, I hope your sister feels a bit brighter very soon xx

He was using the iPad to take photos using the Gruffalo photo app, but to me it looked like he was reading him a story. Thank you for the best wishes.

Just love the first picture! Reminds me of those flower fairy pictures from years ago. We live not far from the Forest of Dean and have never been to see the Gruffalo there – you've reminded me to do it before they get too old! And that's a lovely thing to do for your sister, I truly hope the treatment is a success x

    • TheBoyAndMe says

Thank you lovely, much appreciated. There isn't unfortunately a carved Gruffalo there, it's just a trail with signs and Gruffalo character plaques. Westonbirt Arboretum has a carved Gruffalo though.

All my love and good thoughts to your sister during her chemo, I'm sorry to hear it didn't go well but I hope that further treatment is successful, the care package is a lovely thing to do. We love the Gruffalo, too and the trail sounds like lots of fun x

    • TheBoyAndMe says

Thank you for your best wishes. The Gruffalo's Child trail was fun but it's lucky I thought of other activities to do at the same time as it was a bit scant.

Lovely Pics! Aren't Little Ones imaginations so funny when dressing up! you can often find my little man with dads trainers on or my slipper boots strutting around the house haha!.

The care package is such a thoughtful thing to do, sending best wishes to your Sister and hope her treatment is a success x

Sending lots of thoughts and prayers your way, I hope that they are able to adjust the medication to suit her, she has a great support network in you and your Mum.
Love the gruffalo trail so much fun for children (and adults) of all ages!

Love that moon photo. One day I will get a really good one that looks closer than previous ones I've taken.

Embarrassing photos – that's relatively tame. I have one of my brother wearing my old ballet tutu, complete with juggling balls in the bodice! Maybe that's why he says he'll never get married?

  14. says

Love your comment on the scarf pic – that one day he will hate you- brilliant!!
you are a fab sister and I am sure that care package will have cheered her up ( and probably shed a tear), and I am sure her children appreciated being taken and given a lovely day with their aunt and gran.
Love seeing pics of well wrapped kids out in the cold, its good for them.

  15. says

I really want to take my two to a Gruffalo trail, they were obsessed with it over Christmas! Not sure about the trousers in socks look! So sorry to hear about your sister, hope the Chemo went as OK as it could.

My daughter loves the Gruffalo-what a great place to visit πŸ™‚ Lots of lovely photos. I like that he was dressing up, that made me smile. I find the moon so fascinating so it's great to see a photo of it. I hope things improve for your sister and things with the Chemo goes the best that it can. x

We really enjoyed the Gruffalo trail in Thetford, it was a fantastic day! I'd definitely take the kids again this year.
Sorry to hear about your sister, I hope she improves soon x

Thinking of your sister and all of you, the care package sounds so lovely and so great you are close to her to support her. Oh my, your son is just so, so beautiful and your pictures blow me away-the Gruffalo one is breathtaking, you must frame it. You are gifted, lady!

  19. says

My boys used to like playing with scraps of paper. It's surprising how imaginative children can be at times. 'Look Mum I made a **** (whatever)' 'Oh, lovely (Sounding enthusiastic even if you can't see what it is!)
Hope your sister is doing well after the ordeal of the first lot of chemo.
