During the Summer holidays, we've played a number of board games but some of the most enjoyable games have been those which cause much laughter and giggles. Don't Rock The Boat is one of them!
Following the popular balancing items on a wobbly base philosophy, Don't Rock The Boat has a collection of pirate penguins which must be balanced on their teetering pirate ship without knocking any off. However, the valiant vessel is balanced on a treacherous wave which makes the task even harder!
We've got this type of game in a variety of different formats scattered throughout our extended family, however we don't actually have it in our house. Don't Rock The Boat is brilliant fun because it's different to the others that we have. The penguins don't just have to sit on the deck of the boat, but because they have swords and hooked headscarks, they can also be hooked onto the crow's nests, the edge of the boat, and the portholes. They can also be balanced off each other!
It's a fast-paced game which can be over quite quickly which makes it an ideal game for after tea or as a quick time-filler. However, because it's addictive and such fun to play (and we're all very competitive in this house!) we usually end up playing it over and over again. How many penguins can we balance on the edge? How many do we have to add to the other side to counter the overbalancing penguins on the starboard side? Is it possible to even get any in the crow's nests without the whole ship come crashing down?
Don't Rock The Boat is made by University Games and available from a variety of high-street and online stores priced with a RRP of £14.99.
