Treetop Adventure Golf, Cardiff (Review)

We try to get out in the fresh air as much as possible, but sometimes it's not always achievable, especially if it's a little bit too fresh! We had a bank of 'go-to' entertainment venues which we frequented during inclimant weather, but as The Boy gets older, our needs have changed. We had spotted that there was a new golf course open in the centre of Cardiff, but as it was in St. David's 2 shopping centre's car park I wasn't entirely sure how it worked and what it would be like.

Treetop Adventure Golf is actually a very clever use of an area of the popular car park which was rarely used, and provides an afternoon's entertainment for all the family.

Bosinver Farm Cottages (Review)

Over the past few years we've discovered the curious corners of Cornwall and the wonders of this part of the west country. A truly beautiful part of Britain, it holds some of the most beautiful beaches and quaint curiosity villages I've seen. Traditionally I'm a Dorset stalwart, but Cornwall is rapidly growing on me.

We were recently invited to stay at Bosinver Farm Cottages, just on the edge of St. Austell. As we normally holiday in north Cornwall, I was keen to see what the south had to offer, plus the opportunity came at what has been a very stressful time for me and my family of late.

Family Breaks in The Royal Garden Hotel, London (Review)

The Boy adores going to London, he thinks it's a really special place to visit because of the variety of things we get to do. We usually visit in the Summer and spend time wandering through the parks and enjoying the great outdoors. I had been eager for quite some time to visit London at Christmas time so we could see the lights and the wonderful shop displays.

A few weeks before Christmas, this was made possible when we were invited to stay at The Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington for the weekend. I have to say it is quite possibly one of the most luxurious, and child-friendly, hotels I've stayed in with one of the most amazing views over London.

Kingdom of The Elves at Bluestone, Wales

Family time over Christmas is so important, and with time being such a precious commodity in modern life it can be hard to fit in the special events and occasions which make memories.

We were recently invited to spend a weekend at Bluestone National Park Resort in west Wales in order to enjoy their Christmas extravaganza of the Kingdom of the Elves, and it was without a doubt the perfect thing to start off our celebrations over the festive season.

Exploring The National Trust: Dyrham Park

NT Dyrham Park

I absolutely adore Autumn. It is a glorious time of year; full of colours and treasures, walks through crunchy leaves while listening for bouncing squirrels overheard. It's also the time of year that we start exploring new National Trust places, arboretums in the grounds of stately homes are glorious in Autumn.

Last weekend we visited Dyrham Park for the first time, and we soon realised that it was going to be first of many visits.

How To Make Car Journeys Easier!

I love Spring and Summer, not least of all because of the fun weekends away we have interspersed with holidays around our fine country. We don't go further than around three hours away, and while I'd like to blame that on The Boy, it's actually me that is a dreadful traveller.

When Butlin's sent us an emergency travel kit to aid 'the long and whining road', I chuckled. There are some PR pitches which are spot on quite frankly, and this is one of them.

Family Days Out 'Wishlist' – 2014

Last year we were lucky enough to be given a media pass for the National Trust, in conjunction with my blog promotion for their 50 Things To Do Before You're 11 & ¾ campaign. When it ran out at the end of the year, we rushed to buy our family membership as it provided us with a plethora of opportunities for days out as a family, exploring nature, the nation's history, and having fun in their beautifully landscaped outdoors!

I've been having a look recently for National Trust places within an hour or so of us, and I decided that I'd create a 'wishlist' for the places I'd like us to explore this year, both National Trust, or otherwise. [Read more…]
