366 Competition: Snapfish

A few months ago, I had the pleasure of reviewing some products for snapfish, the online digital photo shop. When I was browsing the range of products to choose from, I was astounded at the variety: in addition to the the usual cards, canvasses and photobooks, there were calendars, mugs, coasters, Christmas ornaments, notebooks, magents, personalised toddler storybooks and a range of Disney gifts. It made it incredibly difficult to narrow my choice down, but I managed it and chose a placemat, a jigsaw and a photo panel. I was really impressed with the range of products available and the quality of the finished products were excellent.

In order to celebrate day 100 of the 366 project, the very generous Snapfish have offered a prize for the 366/52 bloggers who take part in tomorrow's weekly linky (Facebook 'like' will be required). They are offering £35 worth of credit so that the winner chosen from tomorrow's linky will be as bamboozled for choice as I was!

When you are selecting one photo to link up tonight or tomorrow, make sure you choose a good one with lots of appeal, hopefully you'll be the winner.

366 #14

I've got another little competition for you! This one is to celebrate the fact that tomorrow is DAY 100 of the project! We've made it to three figures and I'm so proud of everyone for sticking with it.

The competition will be live with next week's linky and the generous Snapfish are offering the winner £35 of credit to make a photo product from their site. I reviewed Snapfish before Christmas and was incredibly impressed with the variety of their products, the price and the finish of the products. I'll post more about the competition later this week but bear in mind that one of you who links up next week will be a winner!

The Project 366 Facebook group is a fabulous community who offer support to those taking part in this photography project, and give much blog love. We've made it a closed group so that not every Tom, Dick or Harry can see the content but if you'd like to join just click the 'ask to join group' button in the top right hand corner of the page.

  1. Choose your favourite photo from the past week and link it up below.
  2. Please add the badge to your linked-up post so that other people know how to find all the other fabulous entries.
  3. If you can spare five minutes to comment on just a few other entries I know they'd appreciate it!

Easter Cookies, Baked By Me! (and The Boy)

As regular readers will know, The Boy and me I like cooking together. It's a great activity to do with little ones, offering them a wealth of experience, education, sensory stimulation and fun. We usually go for cakes, have dabbled in pizzas, but have never tried cookies before. When I was a teenager, I had an amazing recipe for cookies (but have since lost it) and any that I've tried have never come close on the moistness front.

Then I was sent a cookie mixture in a beautiful kilner jar by Baked By Me.

Preserving Memories

Seven years ago, a family member had a housefire. She had to leave the property quickly, and she was only able to grab her handbag on the way out the door. She stood in the street, next to her boyfriend, and watched the evidence of their life together go up in smoke. Ever since then when she lost all her possessions, including every photo, I've been pretty meticulous on backing up our photos (every month or two) onto a portable hard-drive which we keep by the front door in case we need to grab it in an emergency.

However, this habit has resulted in something quite sad happening; I never seem to print out my photos anymore. I have thousands and thousands of photos, yet only a handful that I can actually physically touch. I therefore made a conscious decision last year to start displaying my photographs more. And I don't have to have them in frames on every wall, there are a variety of ways I've used our photos: jigsaws, snow globes, placemats, photobooks and my school diary.

I'm not the only person who's noticed that people aren't printing out their photos, Bonusprint have as well. Which is why they are campaigning to 'free' the photos from our computers and into our 'real-life'. Bonusprint's Print Them To Preserve Them campaign aims to ensure that we are enjoying our photos everyday without having to resort to turning on the computer. They have an honestly impressive range of products, many of which are practical and useful, and you can take all those special digital photos and transform them into photo books or gifts in minutes. I have, and it is an incredibly easy to use website.

Now here's to the exciting news for the participants of the Project 366 linky. For the next two weeks (Sunday 4th March and Sunday 11th March), Bonusprint are going to be viewing the entries and will choose three winners each week. The prize for these winners is a personalised iPhone 4 cover.

Pretty isn't it?

Don't worry! If you don't own an iPhone 4 then Bonusprint will provide a £20 voucher instead.

This competition is open to people who take part in the Project 366 (or Project 52) linky, and will require a tweet and a 'like' on Bonusprint's Facebook page. Not exactly onerous though, is it?

So quick recap: link up to the Project 366 linky for the next two weeks and you could be one of (in total) six lucky people to win a personalised iPhone 4 cover (or £20 voucher).

At the moment, Bonusprint have 20% of all Mothers' Day products, but hurry they need to be order by 11th March 2012 so you are able to give them to your mums on the 18th!

Gosh: Click 'n' Conceal (Review & Competition)

I often look at my mum's face and wonder how as the age of 68 she has minimal wrinkles? But then I realise that the cursed combination skin (and tendency to be on the overweight side) that we share means that we don't tend to not wrinkle or sag. However, since going back to work after The Boy I have developed shadows. Deep and dark, purple shadows. And no amount of foundation can help me; I'm not sure anything ever will!

That was until about a month ago when I discovered that on Buyapowa they had a deal on Touche Éclat which saw me buying a tube of it for £13! I'm not sure that I'll find another deal like that in the future before I run out, and so I've been using is sparingly. However my shadows are beginning to creep through the wonder-cover-up and so I need to find an alternative.

Anchors Away! (Competition)

I like cakes, they make me happy. I also like baking as this too makes me happy.

When Anchor asked me if I'd like to share my favourite elevenses snack as a part of their campaign to bring back the mid-morning goodness, I jumped at the chance to indulge!

Go on admit it, your mouth is watering isn't it?

Strictly speaking, this should be for an afternoon tea. Also strictly speaking, it should be a scone. However, it is neither a scone, nor am I that bothered about whether I eat it at 3 o'clock. I tend to find that leading up to 11 o'clock my blood-sugar levels are dropping and I need a pick me up to get through to (an often non-existent) lunchtime. I have a snack at half past ten on a working day, so why not at home with The Boy?

The reason this is not a scone is because I have bad memories of trying to make them. My grandmother only once tried to teach me how to cook and failed miserably on her part. She read the recipe incorrectly and told me to put a tablespoon of salt in and consequently, and to no-one's surprise, the scones were disgusting! Shop-bought scones always taste chemically and leave me with an after-taste.

Therefore I give you an easy elevenses recipe (adapted from my own blog-post), to be eaten with clotted cream and strawberry jam or not.

  • 60g caster sugar
  • 300g self raising flour, sifted
  • 85g Anchor butter, cubed
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 150g Low Fat Natural Bio Live Yogurt
  1. Sift the flour, butter, baking powder and the sugar into a bowl, and using a food processor or mixer whizz together until fine crumbs form.
  2. Add the milk and yogurt and mix until a soft dough forms .
  3. (I decided to add a handful of raisins at this point).
  4. Bake the not-scones for 25 minutes until a knife comes out clean.

Let me just remind you of the simple beauty of my Elevenses:

I have one of these special edition Anchor aprons to give away to one of the readers who comments below telling me their favourite elevenses snack.

Sorry, did I say one? I meant ten! Yes that's right: ten! Anchor are feeling generous and therefore providing ten of you lucky souls with one of these gorgeous aprons, and you just have to do the three really simple things listed on the rafflecopter form (Facebook 'like' & comment are mandatory, tweeting is a bonus entry).

What are you waiting for? Get entering!
