Vodka Cocktails With Sodastream
We all know how hard working mothers are, and while we know that all of their efforts are appreciated it's still important to let them know this. That's why days like Mother's Day are so important! Even though the 21st Century version has evolved from the origins of Mothering Sunday when people revisited their 'mother' church on Laetare Sunday, to it becoming a day when domestic servants were given a day off to visit their mother church, usually with their own mothers and other family members, I think that it's important to have one day a year to spoil the special mother figure in our lives.
With Sodastream's help, I'm bringing you a range of vodka cocktail recipes for mums to relax with after 'the bedtime hour'.
Our Special Place: Dyffryn Gardens
And The Cow Went Moo!
Last Sunday was Mother's Day, and on these National Hallmark Days we try to get out and about and do something together as a family. When it's warm then it's a little easier to choose what to do, when it's for Mr. TheBoyandMe it's easier. However, an activity we can do with a focus for mummy always causes Mr. TBaM issues. He suggested a few and I vetoed them, until he suggested a local, community farm which is free. We hadn't been there since last Summer, and even then have been only twice before, so we jumped in the car and shot down there for an hour or two.
It was incredibly quite there, and so we had a great deal of peace and quiet to wander around, admire the animals and the start of Spring bursting forth.
We saw new life bursting forth amongst the debris of Winter
We tested the depths of puddles:
Interacted with the environment:
And we talked to the animals!
He absolutely loved it there and it'll be great to visit this farm throughout the year with The Boy and see the developments in each season.

The Best Card I've Ever Had!
Earlier in the week I texted Mr. TheBoyandMe and asked if The Boy was buying or making me a card. The reply was most indignant as he was buying the equipment to make it at the time. Yesterday morning, The Boy and daddy sat down to make the card and this morning I was presented with this little beauty. Mr. TBaM stuck the pipe cleaners on only, the rest is all from The Boy.
And inside, he'd written his name perfectly spelt.
But you'll have to take my word for that…

I chose these flowers for my mummy
Sponsored Video: The Most Important Woman In My Life
I've posted before about my mum and why I love her and how much of an impact she has on our daily life. Without her, I wouldn't be able to work part-time; she is one of the few people that I trust to care for The Boy and she does so brilliantly and without asking for anything other than our time and love in return. My mum is the one who taught him how to draw a kiss, so that now he can write that on my Mother's Day card, she's the one who teaches him rhymes that he sings to me when I get home. Most recently she is the one who takes him to playgroup and has to walk away from him when he's crying (I'd like to add he's fine within two minutes).
I normally put these videos at the end of the post; try and hook you in with the content of the words, then suggest you watch the video at the end. Not this time, this time the video has actually made me smile, chuckle out loud and have a lump in my throat.
I still do that! I still call for my mum in the same way as I did when I was six and had fallen over. Most recently it was when I was so poorly from the gastric bug that The Boy had shared with me. She was downstairs looking after him and I had to pathetically call her for a glass of water. But that's a different type of muuuum to the one that happens when I can't find something, or when I want to ask her something, or when she's playing deaf.
And that's why this Sunday she'll be coming around for dinner. She'll tell me not to because it's my Mother's Day, but it's also hers, and because of the way she raised me, I'm able to be the mum that I am to my child.

My Mothers' Day
"Go and give that to Mummy".
How many other mummies across the land were woken up by that whispered instruction today? I smiled to myself, turned over and stretched my arms out ready. In trotted The Boy quizzically looking at the card in both hands. I prised the card from his reluctant hands ("pwees, tar") with the bribe of my phone to play with and he then proceeded to rip open the envelope once I'd rescued my card.
I was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers by The Boy (and hubby because little'un couldn't see where he was going) the flowers of which he chose himself yesterday in the florists. All I can say is that The Boy has good taste and must have inherited my Bampi's horticultural talents.
I also had some scrummy Baileys chocolates (which is good because the bottle is empty) and a book of 'Mothers' Wit' (I hope he's not implying I need pointers!).
After a blustery picnic (which we bought in Tesco, I'm not making one on my day) overlooking Swansea Bay and a play in the park there, we went to Plantasia, which is a mini-rainforest type attraction. It was just the right size for The Boy and us to cover in an hour; it was informative without shoving it in your face, not crowded and fun. He loved watching the fish and catching the raindrops falling from the waterfall. He also tried to give the parakeets some water because he thought they might be thirsty!
In the evening, we had Mothers' Day: The Sequel for my own mum as she and dad came around for dinner. I gave her the canvas that I had made by Alyson at Lucy's Locket which she adored.
All in all a very satisfying day for me. Thank you hubby and The Boy.
