Autumn Treasure Bag
Autumn is a wonderful time of year to get out and about, enjoying nature and all the treasures the season brings. During the month of September, we are forever scavenging for conkers and acorns, finding colourful leaves and spotting squirrels, with our pockets fit to bursting with the fruits of our labour.
When we were recently sent some crafting materials as part of the Bostik Bloggers' Challenge, we decided the most appropriate thing for us would be to make an Autumn Treasure Bag in order to make collecting conkers etc. easier.

Back To School: Waterproof Clothing
Anyone who knows me and the activities featured on this blog will know that as far as I'm concerned, "There's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing."
I'm pleased that The Boy's school also follows this philosophy, significantly helped by the introduction of the Foundation Phase a few years ago. Last week a letter came home requesting waterproof gear was sent in as he would be outdoors in all weather conditions, so I want to share with you the items I'll be sending in for him to get his fresh air and outdoor play every day.
We might have had fun with a hose whilst testing!

But in amongst all of this, when it comes down to it, is a little boy who just wants to play in the water.
Summer Season Starts
We're incredibly lucky to be able to nip to a beach whenever we feel like it, and in south Wales there is a massive selection of sandy, pebble or rocky beaches to choose from. The local sandy beach is Barry Island and fortunately it's a gloriously wide expanse of sand deemed worthy of a blue flag for cleanliness.

Nature's Playground
When we first visited Cefn Onn Park last year, The Boy's first question was about the playground. At the time he still had in his head that every 'park' was of the suburban template consisting of various flora, a set of swings, see-saw, slide, climbing frame… you get the picture. It's taken him a while to realise the point I explained to him then; that there's play equipment wherever you go, you just have to work out how to use it.
