ShowOff ShowCase: The One That Should Have Done Better

This weekend is your opportunity to link-up a post that you wrote that filled you with a sense of satisfaction. You typed that last full stop, pressed 'publish' and thought "yes, this will be a good one!" and waited.

But no bugger actually bothered to read it, or if they did they certainly didn't comment on it!

Why? I can still hear you shouting it at the stats counter/comments log.

Heaven only know why. They didn't deserve it, they were good posts. It's not their fault that they were published on a Bank Holiday or when people were experiencing blog-apathy. Or at Cybermummy! They don't deserve to feel inadequate, not when they've done nothing wrong.

This weekend, I'd like you to help that post to hold its head up high! Brush them off, stick my badge at the bottom of the post and show them off for everyone to see. Don't be ashamed of them, help them shout at everyone:

I SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER!

ShowOff ShowCase: The One That Should Have Done Better

You know the drill by now.

On Saturday at 8 0'clock then I will open the linky that enables you to have another bash at getting one of your posts read. The post that you spent ages typing and for some unknown reason had hardly any views. It might have been the day that you published it (sunny days or CyberMummy days for example). It might have been the time of day. It might have been an early post in your blog's life. Who knows? Either way, it should have been more successful than it was, and quite frankly the poor little thing is sat quivering at the bottom of the stats pile pleading you to get it more comments. This might be it's chance.

Come back and link it up on Saturday morning and shout out to the world:

This is: "THE ONE THAT SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER"

I close the linky at around 10pm on Sunday night, or when I remember!

ShowOff ShowCase: The One With The Photo

I am overwhelmed at how many lovely people join in with my little ShowOff ShowCase, many of them are regulars, so thank you. However I know that sometimes the theme can exclude some people because they haven't done a post on that theme, which is why I thought I'd go with a very simple theme that I've done in the past and I know allowed more people to join in.

I love The Gallery and Silent Sunday, and have taken part in Wordless Wednesday once or twice. Sometimes though, you don't get the reaction that you anticipated for your carefully selected photo. So this weekend's carousel allows for you to share your most favourite entry into any of these, or a 365 entry, or indeed a general post centred around an adored photo. The added bonus being that if you do choose a Silent Sunday or Wordless Wednesday post, you can add text to it in order to explain it further.

It's time for you to now link-up please and show off your favourite photo-post. Simply enter your link below and then add my badge to that post using the nifty html that hubby whipped up.

And don't forget to visit the other blogs!

ShowOff ShowCase: The One That Should Have Done Better

Hopefully you know the drill by now; there's one post that we've written that we were proud of, that we put the final punctuation mark to and thought "yep, that's a good one! They're going to love it!"

And then either no bugger read it, or, like I've had this week, about 50 people read it but no-one commented!

I used to think it was the stats that counted, but I've recently realised that it's the comments; they confirm that your writing is decent and that your readers find your ramblings enjoyable.

Hence this linky to help other ShowOff the posts that were underappreciated. This weekend, I'd like you to help those post sto hold their heads up high! Brush them off, stick my badge at the bottom of the post and show them off for everyone to see. Don't be ashamed of them, help them shout at everyone: I SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER!

Oi, you lot! You know the drill, I can't be doing with explaining it again and again!

There's a post which didn't get the views or comments that it deserved; link it up to SOSC: The One That Should Have Done Better and see if it does.

Simples!

Linky opens at 8am tomorrow morning, and due to CyberMummy being this weekend (grrr!!) I'm not going to close it until Tuesday evening.

ShowOff ShowCase: The One About Birthdays

I like a good old birthday celebration. For my 21st my family and I went to London, for hubby's 30th I took him to Edinburgh for a surprise weekend away, on my 30th we stayed in a swish local hotel and then had a big garden party back at our house. I love it all; from the beginning stages of choosing the theme to making sure the balloons hang just so, and everyone getting their allocated party bag. Until The Boy was born, we had a little bit of a lull in reasons for a celebration. My son's first birthday was the perfect excuse to go overboard and plan a fabulous little birthday party for him.

It's The Boy's 2nd birthday tomorrow and so I am in full party-planning mode! Bring on the cast-iron cake tin, roll out the vibrant plastic 'crockery' and puff up your lungs in preparation for the balloons; he's going to be celebrating in style.

Therefore the theme for this weekend's ShowOff ShowCase is birthdays. I'd like you to dig out a post that you have on celebrating getting older; you, your children, your parents, when you were a teenager, a 'special' birthday, a magical party that you've been to, a dodgy party that you've been to!

Link up below and please add the badge using the html to your post so we can hop around and read all the other little birthday tales!

ShowOff ShowCase: The One About Birthdays

My gorgeous little son, The Boy, is going to be two this Sunday.

This time two years ago, I was happily preparing to go in and be induced. This time one year ago, I was busy sewing triangles of Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric onto 50 metres of ribbon to make bunting. Today I am considering practising making a birthday cake and panicking about the weather.

Come join me on Saturday at 8am when I open the linky and add your post. Then please add the badge using the html to your post and pop back and read all the other little party stories!

ShowOff ShowCase: The One That Should Have Done Better (3)

This weekend I'm reverting to the very popular:

The One That Should Have Done Better

We've all got those posts that just didn't get the views or comments that they should have. Maybe they were published on a busy day or you didn't get the chance to advertise it as much as some of the other posts. Either way, wouldn't it be nice to find out if actually they were well written, but they just slipped through the cracks?

This is your chance. Find that post, add my nifty html to the bottom of the post which will generate the pretty little badge and bang that drum shouting:

This is The One That Should Have Done Better.

This weekend's ShowOff ShowCase theme is the very popular:

The One That Should Have Done Better

It seems that we all have those posts that are left feeling unloved and dejected at the bottom of the statistics chart. A lot of the time, it wasn't their fault and why should they be made fun of by the high flyers?

So this Saturday show them the Gok Wan treatment by popping my badge on the bottom of them, link them up here and show them off again. Help them prove that they know how to look good, naked or otherwise! Help them walk down the catwalk of better-viewed posts, remove the metaphorical dressing gown of shame, hold their heads high and shout at everyone: I SHOULD HAVE DONE BETTER!

ShowOff ShowCase: The One About Play

The lovely Lauren at The Real HouseWife of Suffolk County recently pointed out that I post a fair amount about Learning Through Play. I've just done a search on my blog and she does appear to be right, there are 25 posts with that tag on my blog!

There's a reason for this; The Boy has reached the age where he is really beginning to discover his world and investigate how things work and interact. It's fascinating to watch, and with a small amount of careful guidance he can learn so much. My natural pedagogical instinct has kicked in slightly and I'm suddenly remembering all of my nursery nursing training which encourages learning through play.  Also, I'm a big kid and like toys.

This weekend, I want you to share your tales about play: cooking, painting, gardening, craft, playing with toys, beach trips, soft-play, pillow-fights, card games, team games, role-play, playing with teddies. You name it, I'd like you to link it up. Simply use the html to add the badge below to that post (you don't need to repost) and then enter your url below and feel the blog love.

Go on, Show Off The Ones About Play!
